Still haven't started the essay. More excellent excuses. Rose and the utterly hilarious Marcin fresh out from Poland arrived yesterday and spent the night here at Kate's. Marcin is an avid fan of vodka and is just overflowing with surprises. Who would have thought pretending to stuff a turkey could be so obscene. Hyena-like laughs all around. Actually, just me. Rose has stopped drinking for undisclosed reasons. Will have to get her drunk to get it out of her. They left this arvo after cooking a wicked pasta bake. Am crashing in Newtown on Tuesday, will arrive fully stocked with the remnants of the vodka plus copious amounts of wine. John used to love using the word 'copious'. It was so funny. Sigh.

Then we went to Pioneer Park and had a couple of drinks for Ruth's farewell.
