It is the end of a long era today. The 3 year plus long era of wearing my gold studs nearly everyday. Today the back of one fell on the ground, and when i reach up to my ear, I realised the front was gone. Retraced my steps along the street, looking a bit mad probably with my head down staring at the ground with a concerned look on my face. So, it is gone. I wore those earings for years. Years! The saw me through three years of adventures - second year uni, Taiwan, they witnessed it all, and now I'll never wear them again.

I'm really tired today because we had drinks after Rose's wedding which was really nice and I shed a tear or two. They've got really nice rings and after the ceremony we had champagne and beer then we had dinner then we had more beer then I went to bed with The Kubster and his alarm went off at five thirty but he kept sleeping so was an hour and a half late for work. I didn't sleep very well generally speaking and was already half awake at eight when my alarm went off. So losing my earring has not helped at all.

I'm going to be drinkin alot tonight. Going to pub with workmates then straight to Newtown for Rose's wedding party. Last night when I blurted out that I only had twenty dollars to my name Rose gave me a look as if to say hush but I couldn't work out why, it's a mystery. Maybe it's bad manners to tell everyone how broke you are.

Yawn factor ten, another big night coming up, must have another coffee or three.

LOVE LIZWAAAAAAAAA

PS finally got paid for the Friday before last, they took their time while i scabbed food, drink and cigarettes off everyone around me. Hence the ability to buy things like coffee.

Donate to the Lizwami Relief Fund, millions of Lizwas suffering, going without daily flat white, send all donations to 100 Broke Avenue, Brokeville 2000, Brokepotamia.

Can't buy Rose a birthday present at the moment, but at least she'll have something to look forward to when she gets back from Vanuatu (apart from wedded bliss, that is).

I had a dream I had a heart transplant last night, shit man. Going under was scary. I was at a clothes shop that sold school uniforms and I wanted to pick out a daggy grey woollen jumper. The people from Freedom were there, and I told them that they were all cool.

Ah well, smell you later dude.

So I deliberated and deliberated over what I was going to do about work. I decided to risk it and I pull out of the North Sydney job altoghether, feeling confident that I will get this job that I'm at now. I told the agency and they tried to convince me I was making the wrong decision. What I told them was that I wanted to try to go for higher paid jobs, I didn't tell them about applying for this job, and they said it was the wrong decision, they really made me feel scared. Anyway if I've made a mistake and thrown it all away, it was worth trying for, and I can probably just spend the next six months temping till I get offered a permanent position. Not too worried, although my rent was due on Friday, and I still haven't paid it, because I honestly don't have enough to pay it! As broke as I am, I still buy coffee. It's a social thing really. Anyway this whole risk-taking business feels really good, I feel like an enterprising business man or a stock-broker, all so I can make up to an extra $4000 by the end of this year. Worth the risk, or not?

I'm running out of food again so I made mashed potatos to have with the leftover bolognese sauce from the weekend. It's an upside down sheperd's pie in my lunchbox. Not bad really. For dinner I'm going to have canned soup. I've also run out of bread but I still have half a bag of frozen dumplings left so I can have that for tomorrow's dinner. I still have cereal, so I can have that for lunch tomorrow, milk supplied free of charge at work.

Ah anyway, the temping agency have only just found my bank details, so I'm going to be paid in the next few days, which will then allow me to pay my rent. Then my next rent will be due before I know it, then eventually I will be back with my feet on the ground, my head above water, etc etc.

My typing's getting better already, being a secretary and all. I can type words like hepatitis, fibrosis, and pegylated interferon and ribavirin therapy really fast now.

Living downstairs has been momentously stimulating, there's a DVD player so i've been watching movies everyday since I moved in. Next I'll watch One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest although my heart will be broken all over again. Actually I might not watch it, it's too disturbing.

Anyway keep reading my ultra-exciting blog everyone!

Smell you later,
Lizwa

Hi there everybody. Well they still have to advertise the job, but my supervisor will be on the selection panel and she said she'd vouch for me. Whoo! It's gonna be tough leaving the North Sydney job after a couple of weeks. What am I going to say? I might ring the agency and tell them first and then they can sort it out.

In other news, I moved downstairts to Shani, Marissa, and Tim's appartment. It's clean, and my room is smaller but it's worth it because just like me, they like to eat junk food while watching tv and they generally like hanging out with one another which will be a big improvement from upstairs.

This morning I let them wake me up at five to watch the soccer. I cried when they got the second goal because I was so happy. I'm not even in to soccer but it's those Nike ads that get you interested in how the socceroos go. So they're into round two, that's great. Ranked 42nd, we're now in the top 16. Whoo!

Anyway SMELL you later dude!

Well it's day three and they're asking me to stay on, (although still have to apply in usual way). Last night I thought to myself, they'd have to offer me at least 40K for me to consider staying on. And lo and behold, that's what they're offering me. I always thought I'd feel terrible not going to ISS as promised but hey money is money and that's what makes the world go round! Can compose new budget now although I'm not sure what the difference will be after tax. If I get the job, I will be a secretary. Yay. But it's all for the money anyway. And apparently there's not usually this much filing to do. Well anyway this is what I dreamed would happen. My sisters both had their first full time jobs starting at under 30K and if beat that by 10K I will get to show off about it big time. So yes I think I've just made up my mind.

Well I think we can establish that office work is not glamourous, it's no better than working in a supermarket when it comes to the level of intellectual demand but on the plus sideyou can get away with sitting and doing nothing, you get to do everything sitting down, you can make cups of tea whenever you want, and you're allowed, yes allowed, to stop and chat with your colleagues. (Not allowed at Freedom!) I don't have to answer to anyone, and the best thing is, noone is standing over my shoulder telling my what to do or how many sales I have to make etc. Cool. And no walking around begging customers to talk to me! It's pretty breezy really. It's a big step up from pretty much doing nothing all week. I've spent all morning transribing letters. Sometimes you can't tell what they're saying and this really pisses me off so I get up and make another cup of tea. They think I'm really good because I got through that big pile of shit yesterday and my new master plan is to work so fast that they run out of things to give me to do and I get to go home! I think I can articulate what is so glorious about office work - it's that you can set your own pace. Hmm, autonomy, how gloriously delightful. Ooh news just in, I think we're having a meeting at two-thirty! Yay! A meeting! Talking! God where have offices been all my life?

Lalalalalalala. I made the lamb ragout, it was bloody excellent, potatoes were cooked properly, lamb fell off the bone... my best yet.

Play stop rewind stop play stop rewind stop play stop this has been my entire morning but you know what, I really don't mind at all. Scary man, I am actually not minding being at work. Gee haven't felt that in ages. When have I ever felt that? Oh at Bellbird Books when I was given 'special' responsibilities after they properly appreciated my true talents haha.

Anyway I'll scratch ya later. I think my typing skills are getting worse not better.

Still haven't bought a packet of cigarettes. I don't want to speak too soon, but I'm getting used to it.
Today I'm doing admin work in St Vincents hospital. I'm doing a little bit of a tedious job sorting through questionnaires they give to people with Hep C and HIV. Bit of a reality check. I'm not even half way through the pile and then I have two tapes to transcibe into letters which thank god someone is going to show me how to do.
Even the Institute of Languages seems to easy, at upper intermediate they're still ordering food at a restaurant so I may have to enlist someone for private tutoring and do it on my own. A friend of a friend is getting my a language exchange partner although he lives in Cabramatta.
Pam asked whether I would start a blog so that we can keep in touch once we've both moved out. I got mega anxious that she had somehow discovered this one and then once again considered going back over each mention of her and deleting it. Not that it's all bad.
Anyway I only have to take at least half an hour of so seeing as though I've got nothing better to do I may as well earn myself an extra nine bucks and go back to work.
Love,
Lizwa

Life without cigarettes.

If I was a psycho dictator, I would criminalise cigarettes. Then there would be a black market, but like drugs, less people would smoke. I guess banning smoking in public places is a good way to go.

Have sat on my arse all day composing emails to everyone I know and answering the phone which seldom rings.

UNSW has an insitute of languages which seems a bit better than TAFE but of course double the price. But they have a test and also a preparation workshop for being a flight attendant with Qantas or Australian Airlines. And it's in Randwick. The test is nearly $200, so is the workshop, but there's a booklet for only $20.

Anyway, scratch ya later, dude.

A Philosphical Treatise on the Nature of Fame

I had a nice long weekend. On Saturday night I went out with Mel and her friends and then Sunday I had dinner at Rose's then had sex with Kuba seeing as though it had been just under a year since the last time I had sex (!) then yesterday we walked from The Spit to Manly and I got exercise which was a real jolt to my system. Then we watched Bad Boy Bubby which I thought was really good. Oh on Sunday Russel Crowe came into Freedom and I freaked out and avoided him like the plague just in case he asked me a question or something. It would have been really cool to help him but I was too freaked out. Yeah so that was how I reacted. I ran around going "Is it just me, or is that Russell Crowe?" and my workmates are like 'yes Liz, it's him' and I'm like "Oh my god." Liana was helping a customer and I interrupted her to tell her. Later I said sorry for disturbing her but she was very understanding. But anyway I seemed to be the only one to really give a shit. Shit! Russell Crowe!

Today I used half the rest of my savings to pay rent. Wow, I'm actually going to be broke. But before I went broke I bought two weeks worth of food so I will still be able to eat. I got two Maggi meal bases to make lamb ragout and beef rag-something then i got this sauce for chicken in a jar and also bolognese sauce, and chicken, rump steak, mince beef, and 8 lamp chops. Yum I can't wait to eat it all. See what happened was I was coming home from work on Sunday and I realised I did not feel like eating canned soup so first I thought I'd get takeaway Indian but then I thought no I will turn into a takeaway-eating bum and seeing as though I'm already about three quarters of the way down that slippery slope I was talking about a few weeks ago, I better start putting my foot down, and doing shit properly. So I decided it would be better value to spend nine bucks on a meal that would last two dinners that ten bucks on one. And that, my friends, are the details of my life. My Mum will love reading about this because she's nosy and bored and has got nothing better to worry about. I could tell her about the gory details of Mel's life in order to take the focus off me for a while but no, I'm too nice for that.

Well here I am back in Tumut with the Boydy Bunch. Just been pigging out on apple strudel that Kate made, quite good really.
This morning the job agency rang and told me they are lining up two weeks of temp work for before I start at ISS. Phew for a moment there I thought they wouldn't find anything coz the dosh is tight at the mo. Coolness.
Last night Pam and I had a huge argument about Chinese medicine. Even though I admitted I was taking an orientalist-style attitude, it still think humorism is primitive especially now that we have discovered digestion and what food is made up of. Basically, Pam thinks she got sick because she ate too many peanuts, which are 'heaty', and if you don't balance 'cooling' foods with 'heaty' foods, you get sick. So I argued that I had been eating only 'heaty' foods for the past few days, and I hadn't become sick, so it was just like arguing with a Christian when she concluded that my body must have a higher tolerance for 'heaty' foods. Primitive. She researched it on the internet and printed out an article on it for me to read, failing to realised that the article was based on the premise that these beliefs are 'folk beliefs'. Anyway I can't believe I lived in Taiwan for 18 months and didn't know about 'heaty' and 'cooling' foods. God I would have left earlier. (!)

Enrolling at TAFE for part-time evening Chinese classes, yay! Wonder if I'll meet a boyfriend there, that would prove Dad wrong. I think it's a certificate III or something.

OK when i was in Supre yesterday I noticed the new fashion is apparently to wear a leather belt under your boobs. And here at Video Ezy where internet is the cheapest in Randwick, I just saw a girl doing it. I don't know what my thoughts are on that.

Oh "nothing's gonna stop us now" is playing, yay, love that song. so eighties.
