Our appartment had a pot-luck dinner party on Saturday. Tried to practice my Chinese with all the international students but they all replied in English, as usual, which was a topic on Forumosa, which I have gotten into recently now that I am Surfing Queen 2006. My wonderfully constructed sentence, "I recently read an article on Chinese history which was about how young people in China today never talk about the Cultural Revolution", earnt me a response in English. You know I just think they can be so arrognant to think that your Chinese isn't good enough to talk in (fucking ignorance) or they're just desperate to use English, (which probably shouldn't be the case if they are living in Australia). Anyway I am being bombarded with language exchange opportunities (three in total) but sometimes I just get too pissed off to bother. Tonight I have Chinese class. Am not going to do the homework, because I don't want to bother learning simplified characters.

On Sunday I saw various grandmothers. Granny asked Karina to her some 'powder rouge' for her red-carpet stay in the rehabilitation hospital...

I also rolled sushi for the first time in my life. I'm a natural. I went home early to do long overdue washing and Kuba thought I left to avoid seeing him which was not true, if I wanted to avoid him I wouldn't have come to Rose's at all...

I think I scared the cute North Shore boy off by being too eager to um... well anyway my flatmates think it would be the gentlemanly thing to do to call after coming over on Thursday. He hasn't rung so I think I have officially ended the romance! Oops. Obviously was not meant to be.

I love my flatmates. On Saturday after the dinner we got stuck into karaoke. And last night Alesandro the new Italian that moved in upstairds came over as he has been nearly everyday lately and I think he's really cute the way he seems unsure about his English even though it's not bad and he's generally quite funny.

Claire looked back on her days as a part-time business student and thought thank god she did that. After going through the graduate program of a large company then mercilessly sleeping her way to the top, she was a high-flying executive at the tender age of 27. Now I will tell the story of how she met her high-flying executive fiance.

Claire was 22 and had become acutely aware of her singeldom which had been going on for a few years. During her time overseas she was not interested in men, knowing that she would be returning home after a year and would not want to suffer the pain of separation. She had registered on online dating site and realised that she was not as much of a loser as the men she came into contact with on those sites, and got over that quite quickly.

Blah blah blah she went to a party and spookily before she went, she had a feeling she'd meet someone there. And she did.

The end.

The buzz of the airport invigorated Claire after an eight-hour flight that went surprisingly fast. Was life as a high-flying executive tough for a 27-year-old woman? I don't think so. During the flight she observed the flight attendants at work, and pondered on how she she had once wanted to be one, but decided against it as she preferred to be the one receiving the service rather than giving it. What a wonderful decision that was.

Her handsome actuary fiance met her in the Hong Kong Sheraton foyer with a bunch of roses and a sexy pash. "I can't believe you made me wait a month," Claire said to him after she thanked him for the roses. "I told you, I wanted you to yearn with anticipation," he replied. Jason represented the full package. Looks, charm, prospects, and in bed, the answer to all her prayers. Over dinner he asked her to imagine out loud what she'd like him to do to her later on.

OK i better stop here, I'm at work.

Wow. Another day at the random office. Another day to spend surfing the net while on reception. Today I looked into Masters courses at National Taiwan Uni and actually seriously considered how I would fare studying in Chinese. God it would improve like crazy. I considered journalism but you have to study theory and that would be hard in Chinese, and it goes for three years which is way too long to be poor. So anyway I think I'll just go on the language scholarship again. Well, I'm Officially Obsessed with going back to Taiwan now. Cool.
Last night I invited Rose and Marcin over for dinner and asked my flatmate to show me how to do a roast. Well, he fully took over the whole kitchen and insisted on doing it all his way so it kind of took the fun out of cooking. I would have been satisfied with a chunk of meat coming out of the oven cooked through on a plate full of roast vegies covered in gravy but he had to have a 'special way' of doing absolutely everything, like steaming the vegies before making the soup so the nutrients would be locked in etc... When I make soup I just chop everything up and boil it down to mush. It was fucking fiddly and he didn't let me do anything so I won't ask for his help next time. Marcin thinks he's weird, so did I when I first met him, then I thought he was nice/ok, but last night he kind of annoyed me.
Hm what else can I talk about now? Well at the moment I'm drinking a cup of peppermint tea. Rose might move to Canberra if she gets offered a job with Dept of Community Services oh my god I would die, but I could always visit her then Kate in Tumut all in one weekend!
Hm what else... thinking... thinking... about Taiwan... what will I do when I get there? Enrol in kickboxing classes so I can be mega hot all the time haha! Have a million language exchange partners etc... Get a scooter again and go down the east coast and swim at all the deserted beaches etc...
What else is new. Oh, I put up a sign at Mulwarree advertising for a language exchange partner (now that I've decided to commit to learning Chinese) and the next day it had been taken down so I felt a little but ripped off but then a Chinese guy came a visited my appartment after seeing the sign anyway and we are meeting on Friday arvo. i think I want to work from a textbook so I learn new vocab and stuff.... now that I'm serious about it again... so that when I finally get back to Taiwan, I can get into advanced classes. It's all happening man... in a year's time anyhow. I'm still sore from my complimentary kickboxing lesson I had on Monday. Would love to rush back and start building up my abs again but I'm waiting a couple of weeks to buy an unlimited 3-month pass when I have the mullah.
Still haven't heard back from that prospective job... teeny weeny bit scared I won't get the job but hey it was worth the risk.
What else hmmm I've finished my peppermint tea now. Might go to the toilet. I'll be back...
I'm back now.

Hey I'd like to advertise my sister's art blog, check out her paintings, they are really good. www.ktsart.blogspot.com

Oh the new guy on Big Brother, Max, used to serve me coffee at Ralph's Cafe at Sydney Uni. Claim to fame, man.

OK well I guess I'll just continue surfing now... I can tell when I'm not wanted!

Well the other night, I think it was Thursday, I couldn't get to sleep because I drank too many cups of tea. And then my new plan dawned on me: I had recently been thinking, out of my two plans, a and b, joining feds and going to China, I would rather go to China; then I realised I would rather go back to Taiwan, because I have lots of contacts there and would not not know anyone when I got there, whereas if I went to China, I would be starting from scratch. And then I remembered, that while I was living in Taiwan, I was always thinking, 'if I had a second chance to do it all over again, I would...' so why don't I give myself a second chance? I would live in Taipei, have more Taiwanese friends, use my Chinese more, travel more, have a sex life haha, and master Chinese (maybe need a couple of years for that but anyway). I would study at shi da, get an editing job at the newspaper, lose weight and be in commercials, get a Chinese boyfriend etc, etc. I would go on the same scholarship, but live off teaching English privately. I would live with other foreigners straight away unlike last time and actually earn money rather than spend it. I would have people to stay with when I first arrive. So, I would go tomorrow if I could, but alas, the scholarship period begins in September so I would have to wait till next year to do it. But that leaves me exactly one whole year to save up, and if I'm good I'll end up with relatively shitloads of money to blow once I get there.

I've been drinking alot of red wine this week. I have been watching DVDS with various flatmates and neighbours. The best, the best movie I've seen in a while, was actually a Korean one called "Old Boy". I highly recommend it, and this is coming from someone who finds most movies boring or uninspiring. Not that this one is inspiring, which you'll understand once you see it. But fuck it's good, and it's so... Asian. It could only be an Asian movie. It rocks. See it. Download it. Whatever.

OK well I'm going now so catch you later, dude!

PS. See Old Boy, it's really good!
