Hi all, I'm back... couldn't help myself.

Work is going well, it's not such a bad job. I have to collect the mail and open it for my boss, but that is pretty much the only shitty aspect to it. Otherwise there is absolutely no pecking order to speak of and I'm stoked about my Korea trip which is probably going to be combined with 2 or 3 days in Taipei, with a free weekend in Taipei in between. People keep asking me what will be paid for by the company and I'm like dude who gives a hoot!

Here I am being a nerd at the library. I'm actually here because I have to photocopy stuff for uni and if I don't I will not be able to keep on top. Looks like I'll be doing the social program activities for work every Thursday evening. Don't mind that much, because next week I'm taking the students on a guided tour of the Opera House so hey can't complain.

There's something odd afoot at the moment with my office, but not sure exactly what. I'm a bit in the dark about it actually. My boss, in my interview, told me the last girl left because she was having a baby. Then when I started preparing for the Korea trip, I found a file that the girl had already started, with emails saying that she herself was planning to go in March. If she really was pregnant and planning to leave in Feb, she wouldn't have been planning a trip to Korea in March... the plot thickens... then a letter from an insurance company came, and as it is my job to open the mail, I couldn't help but notice it was regarding a workers comp claim from her. I'm dying to ask but maybe it's none of my business. Who knows.

Announcement

I think I'm going to abandon this blog for an indefinite amount of time, for a couple of reasons.

Most of it is crap and I'm embarrassed, and if I need to blog I will probably start doing it on my facebook profile instead.

If anyone objects to this decision, please speak now or forever hold your peace.

Eventually I'm going to back it up and compile the most 'inspired' posts into one document. Pre-order your copy now!

Love

Liza

P.S. Don't worry Kate, I'll just call you!

A few topics today.

1. The name of my blog. Nice one! So catchy. High five to yours truly. I really was on fire back in 2004.

2. Kuba. Left me with two unpaid parking tickets. Went right off at him, then realised I was hungover and overreacted, but he's sorry and swears he's going to send me the money.

3. My new job. Have basically told everyone about it anyway. That was the interview in which she said she wanted to send the new person to Korea and the UK for a conference and a sales meeting. After the interview I believed that once she saw my eyes physically popping out of my head and me generally turning into a nervous wreck, she would have written me off. But alas. I keep analysing what could have helped me get that job, and I think it must be that Thankyou email I sent her after the interview to remind her I thought it was a wonderful opportunity. OR it was that noone else better wanted to do it OR I am simply the master of the universe. Who knows?

4. Uni. Starts on Tuesday. Get ready to embrace commuting. I went on a practise run yesterday afternoon to the city for something else, and found that taking a newspaper helps. This semester I am doing Customer Analysis/consumer behaviour etc, and Business Chinese as an elective. Yay! This time I'm going to study in simplified characters and I'm shit scared.

5. That something else. Chinese Language Meet-up organised by a very nice woman who spent 9 years in Beijing and speaks wonderful Mandarin. If only. It was at the Chinese gardens in Darling Harbour. It was actually my first time there and it's actually bigger than I thought.

Post-script
I've just been reading over past posts. That was an intense 10 minutes of cringeing mate. Never again.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

Tuesday, August 29, 2006

The Dodgy Recruitment Agency Pty Ltd has palmed me off to an underpaid data entry job in a poky little office of six people in Darlinghurst. My job is to maintain the database of people who receive 'Taxi' magazine. What am I doing here? I'm too fucking intelligent for this place if I do say so myself. I will WASTE AWAY here. This will be the final insult delivered by the DRA. I am out of here. Who do they think I am? I have a fucking degree for god's sake. The lady whose job this used to be and who is training me is a moron - exacerbating the problem expontentially. I do not belong among morons and this is the last time anyone is ever going to undervalue me. Won't be letting that happen again.

Back by popular demand!

This is my 600th post. That's a lot of bullshit from just one person.

Ok today is Sunday and I have just applied for a job at an international exporting company based in Chatswood. I wrote a ripper cover letter so fingers crossed I get an interview. I have also looked on seek and mycareer but nothing took my fancy although I'm sure in a few weeks' time if I still don't have a job, I'll be applying for everything I see.

Things are going well with Mel, she is a bit of an Anal Factory (something I coined the other night) but it's nothing I wasn't already expecting of course. One weird thing is that I have to close the bathroom door when I brush my teeth, because she doesn't want to hear the sound of me 'engaging in personal hygiene.' Now, is that normal, or weird? Her boyfriend Oleg comes over alot. I don't really mind, although I don't think he's perfect for her, as he oozes with the homophobia and racism that can only be seen in some of the most uneducated people out there. His knowledge is a little outdated: he thinks people come here and work for less and therefore steal Aussies' jobs. He was referring to the Chinese in particular. As far as I know, most of them are legal...? And what I find strange is that he's working double the amount of hours that he is permitted to according to his visa... so who's stealing jobs from whom? Then I realised I would never be able to have an interesting conversation with him. He's not exactly the type to be leading the socialist alliance club over at Sydney Uni or anything. I could go on about how Mel is going to help him stay in Australia via way of visas etc, but I may actually end up really really not liking him.

I had another interview on Friday afternoon. The office was bloody tiny with 4 people squeezed into a tiny room, and there was crap all over the desks and floor. Bad sign. My interviewer though was very professional with a background at Newscorp etc but alas I don't think we 'clicked' and she seemed to be a bit of a snob in general. Will delete this post if I get the job ;-)

Tonight I'm having Rose-cin over for a baby BBQ in the park across the street. Mel, Oleg and I went for a walk around the park last night (Mel jogged a bit too) and it's quite nice.

In other news, Katie-wa, my number one fan, (Hi Kate!), is coming up to Sydney in early April so we'll get to hang out and do sisterly bonding things like drink coffee and read the newspaper and maybe see the Archibold show if it's still on (?). She was wondering whether to take the train which would arrived at 8pm Friday or 8am Saturday morning, and I advised she should take the 8pm one so she won't be tired and grumpy when she gets here! Maybe we can go get facials or something...

Ok so I've been back from China for just over a week now, and i feel like it was over before it began. Must save for another trip!!!

Love
