I did a half-arsed spring clean of my room. I definitely draw the line at half a centimetre of dust (kidding!). No but it I made a little discovery of cactus leaves that had fallen off onto the window sill which had been growing in the air, with roots and all. They're back in the pot now.
I have to go to Coles and spend money on food. I'd buy some frozen dinners but there's no room in the freezer :-(
It's time for some creative writing.
Um. Jessica stepped off the plane in Paris in the middle of a summer night. She had heard mixed reviews of the city - it was beautiful, romantic and cultured, but it was also dirty and the people were rude... Her American student friend Sam was waiting for her at Arrivals, and boy was she relieved to be escorted somewhere comfy to sleep. Jessica reminisced the days at the language centre in China. She and Sam and had made a connection of sorts - another American from her school in the US disliked her intensely, and took every chance to ridicule her amongst the social circle that had formed among the students from English speaking countries. Sam was in Jessica's class, and Jessica for a time and was often swayed to the view of that American, but they stayed friends. The day before Sam left, she confided something quite serious to her. Jessica gained a new understanding of her 'sometimes' friend, and they became good friends from then on.
So here she was finally in Paris ready to try the pains au chocolate and the croissants. She had learnt a bit of French in school but Sam had mastered the language long ago, having lived there on exchange.
It was while downing a cappucino that Jessica decided to talk about what happened in China. "Sam, did you know what happened in Beijing, with Candace bagging you out all the time? Did you know why noone talked to you?"
"I was ostracised, I know, but I never depended on the others for a life," Sam replied.
It was true, Sam was never interested in going out at night on the weekends. She wanted to live like a local.
"I can't even remember what Candace had against you, but she had a huge influence. It influenced me, and I'm sorry."
The time she had noticed a little orange jar of tablets in her desk drawer, and suddenly assumed Sam was crazy. In Paris, 3 years later, she knew that these days, everyone was on something.
OK I'm going to Coles now. I will probably buy one frozen dinner and cook it straight away.
Where I'm working at the moment there are two people leaving, including an Events Coordinator. This signalled my opportunity to pounce on it faster than you can say 'Woman dominated profession.' So I called the agency, and asked them to put in a good word for me. She spoke to the office manager and called me back and told me to get my resume and a cover letter ready by tomorrow morning. So I was feeling just a tad excited about it. Then I spoke to the girl that's leaving and she broke it to me, that they're changing the role to 'Events Administrator' and it's not even going to be as much as the 36K
inc. super that she's getting now. Not-worth-it Alert!
Praying to go back to uni full time, finish it in a year, and snuggle into a cozy graduate position at the end.
In other news, I left my floral 'Nanna' undies at Kate's. 'How embarrassment'.
Also, I'm meeting two people from rsvp on Saturday. One is a bank teller at combank, and one can't spell 'architect' and is a Business Development Manager which is a euphemism for Cold Caller Trying to Sell Things, Annoying the Shit Out of Receptionists Like Myself. So it's all a bit of a turnoff, but the one thing thing they both have is ambition.
Well, found out that the track around Centennial Park is 4km. Not bad, eh?
Last night we got onto the topic of tongue twisters and nursery rhymes. Before contemplating the logisitcal nightmare of organising 'all' the King's horses and 'all' the King's men to fix a broken egg, we launched an investigation into just exactly how many pickled peppers are in a 'peck.' With help from the Oxford Dictionary which we brought to play Scrabble with, we discovered that a 'peck' is a quarter of a 'bushel' and a 'bushel' is sixty four gallons. So, it can be argued Peter Piper picked 16 'gallons' of pickled peppers. Shane once more displayed his song-lyric-changing prowess resulting in hysertical laughter, so hysterical that Hunter, who had gone to bed, couldn't stand not being a part of the action, so came out of the tent to join us once more.
Had a mud fight with the boys. Blowering Dam is much much lower than it was last year and there's a little strip of very sloppy mud on the shore before you step into the water. The drought has revealed the ruins of an old brick house and a pathway lined with tree stumps preserved by the water. Three Gorges eat your heart out.
I made my trademark lamb stew. It sat on the stove for like four hours.
I've changed my enrolment for this coming semester: Business Chinese 5006 on Tuesdays, and Management on Wednesdays. Joy! Now that's what I call a sustained effort. Invest, invest, invest.
The Legend that was Liz
Time started jogging from back gate of Mulwarree: 5:31pm
Time arrived back at the gate after jogging the WHOLE way around Centennial Park and back to the gate: 6:06pm.
You know, it was so easy (mwah ha ha) that I can't understand why I found jogging 20m so hard before.
A bit of weight loss would be nice but I won't get my hopes up. Early days.

Jogged again. Alhamdulilah lah lah. Man Arabic is such a hard language.
This is me --->
Went for a jog. Not just any jog - a real jog. Non-stop for twenty-five minutes. Centennial Park. I took the short route, and jogged all the way home, to the back gate of Mulwarree. My confidence grew exponentially from the time I resisted stopping. It just grew and grew. Next time I'll do the whole of centennial park, no matter how long it takes, baby. The fit, cycling around Liverpool every weekend and up and down the beaches of Wollongong 8 year old that I once was, is making a come back! Next stop, the moon!
I'm so glad it's only a four-day week. I feel nauseous just thinking about going to work.
"Hi this is Liz from Restaurant and Catering, just calling to confirm your place in the RSA course tomorrow at the Illarwarra Master Builders Club, at 9am. Please bring a pen, photo ID, and the course fee of $90."
"Hi this is Liz from Restaurant and Catering, just calling to chase you guys up on the paper work for the awards for excellence which we need either today or tomorrow. You don't know what I'm talking about? You've already sent it in? You don't speak English?"
In fact there was a Chinese girl on the phone who didn't understand what I was saying. I contemplated speaking Chinese, but for some reason, didn't feel like listening to the big hoo-hah about how I could speak it. Time is of the essence.
One day I'll be fifty and regret not trying hard enough to get a real fucking job. And I'll be dying of lung cancer, kicking myself.
I'm currently being inundated with Kisses on RSVP. Sad but true. The guys actually don't seem half bad and I've replied to like three of them. It is good timing, because I have to stop stalking Kuba. There's that little thing called Dignity to consider. Anyway chatting is free on rsvp at the mo, and some guy is chatting with me, showing off about his trip to LA and San Francisco, refering to it as 'San Fran'.
I think I'll do some push-up exercises. I can't postpone the test again.
Love,
Lucky Lizwa.
The Tomato Gestapo. But first, make sense of this 'friggin' email:
Email subject line:

Said to inform those who are interested that there are Mini pies, sausage roles and quiches in the above frig.
Cheers
Zo?I desperately need to bitch. About this guy at work who acts like I'm stupid. He speaks exageratedly slowly and clearly as if I'm too dumb to understand, and it FUCKING PISSES ME OFF. I hate him. I'm going to have to email the agency and tell them the truth - that I don't like it here. I'm bloody getting paid shit to call people and confirm their places in RSA courses, and remind restaurateurs to send in paperwork. All fucking day.
Oh, and unfortunately Vanja thinks I don't cut up tomatoes finely enough. We had tacos last night. She just could not get over it. I asked her "who gives a fuck?" and well really, who DOES give a fuck? Jesus. Shit! It's the Tomato Police. Better watch how you cut up those tomatoes, otherwise Santa might not come this year/you might go to hell, or what's worse, limbo, which is an empty white room with nothing but a chair to sit on for the rest of eternity. Hell it is.

I have reached stalking level with Kuba. Mental note: don't ring him for a while ;-)
Wine tasting was OK last night. Nobody wanted more than a few sips so me and Ian hit the big time when we found ourselves drinking from a bounty of 6-7 half-filled wine bottles. I was feeling a bit queasy when I went to bed. I was afraid I would throw up, but I was lucky in that department. i.e. the throwing up before going to bed department. I did throw up earlier though. In our bathroom sink, which has been CLOGGED for a few weeks! I sang karaoke and was the title holder for a while until 'Clam' out sang me.
Poker. Well what can I say about poker except that I've lost my touch.
I was going well with the face reading. I was guessing when everyone was serious or bluffing, and I was right, earning myself the title of The Oracle. Anyway, I KNEW that Jochen was bluffing, but I still got scared when he bet a large portion of his chips. I had three tens. I could have cleaned up. But alas I got scared, and made like Sadako and 'folded'. That heralded the end of my poker career. It was a disaster. An absolute disaster. See, that's what happens when you're too lazy to learn the rules. Mental note: play more poker.
Apparently poker is becoming heaps popular in Sydney. You can hire everything from the equipment to topless female players.
I set my alarm to 8 to get up in time to go to the beach with Rose, I've heard nothing from her, and I want to go back to sleep, but I can't. Damnit.
Kate gave me a good pep talk yesterday. It was about the nature of casual sex relationships. Mental note: Don't call Kuba. I love Kate. Kate is the best. Yay!
Personal training is tomorrow, thankgod.
Tonight I'm going to symphony in the domain. I told Rose I would need a day to get over her piking last night and saying quite frankly that she 'didn't want to come'.
This new job is ok. I can deal with it. It's really not that bad. I was just a bit overwhelmed yesterday because of the switch and all the calls, that for some reason all come at once.
I told Kuba he has to come to wine tasting tomorrow otherwise he's in deep trouble... well actually no but it's his only night off for a while.
Lunch was terrible today. Surry Hills sucks. Meh.
My life-long ambition of going on a ROAD TRIP with Rose-cin is going to be fulfilled at Easter when we go to Byron Bay for the Blues festival.
Too excited. Always wanted to go to Byron Bay. In fact I'm a bit of a loser for never having been!
Started new job today. The switch is totally weird and I was doing everything wrong and it sucked.
Got an assignment tomorrow in Surry Hills. Was secretly hoping for a holiday but oh well. It was the same consultant that gave me the Nightmare at Elton job. I don't know if she was trying to hint something, but she sent me a job description to read in preparation. Hmmmm. It looks like I'll be off the net for a while. Doing work. Moving around. And damnit, I'm going to be responsible for the bloody kitchen. Which is a eupemism for
stacking and unstacking the dishwasher and wiping up everyone's spills that happen when people are making tea but are too important to clean up after themselves. I think it's time I called Kinokuniya.
Woke up at 9.30 this morning and went 'WTF, mate'. Forgot to set my alarm, I think. I remember waking up a bit earlier and thinking it was the weekend.
I have decided I want to get a weekend job in a bookshop. In fact I could possibly work fulltime in a bookshop instead of temping, although I'm not sure which is the lesser of two evils on my resume.
We have two German girls in our appartment at the moment. They are in the bathroom at all the wrong times (i.e. when I had about 30 seconds to get in and out of the shower this morning and I had to bloody wait), and usually I am pretty laid back about this kind of thing, but they really are just an annoyance. They aren't very friendly considering most people express some appreciation/gratitude for letting you stay in their place for a while especially when you don't know them, and they leave their dishes and pancake mix containers lying around. And I didn't even know they were coming.
Kuba. I don't think he minds my being a stalker, so I might just continue.
Apparently a score of 7 in a beep test is really, really hard, and now I'm shit scared. It's back to the drawing board, mate. I'm going for a jog this evening in Centennial Park. Scheisse. Scheisse kopf. Pshytul mnie. Mam waskotki? And to make things worse, I got the invitation to do the test today in my inbox and freaky-freaked out. Damnit. I hate jogging. I hate the whole thing. I hate putting on socks; putting on sneakers; finding some clothes I can get sweaty in; figuring out whether to take my keys or not; walking ALL the WAY ;-) to Centennial Park; fuck man; and then actually starting to jog. The very thought sends shivers down my spine. My personal trainer gave me homework though. To find out how long I can run for. So I have a reason to do it. But I would have to take my phone. Fuck!
MUST
GO
JOGGING.
DID I MENTION THE WORD FUCK?
FUCK FUCK FUCK.
Drawn Together was on last night. Mwah hah hah hah haaaaaaaaaaaa.
Me and Ella made up. Water under the bridge. We went to Campos.
Oh I have a guilty confession. I spent $30 on a book yesterday, and it's not even good. I don't know what came over me. I think I need a good spanking for that one. Must give Kuba a call.
Peace out brother

Catena is still alive:
1. Fi is interviewing celebrities at a festival in Sri Lanka, and Christine is getting drunk at the foreign correspondents club in Rangoon. SHUT UP.
2. The collective pronoun for ravens is an 'unkindness'.
3. Got my bunch of flowers, and some chocolate, fueling paranoid theories that my supervisor read this morning's post somehow, and did it out of pity!
That is all.
I am officially Kuba's 'kohanka' which in Polish means something between a friendly shag and a girlfriend. And he's my 'kohanek'. It's an amicable agreement and we had a nice time again last night. Saw Apocalypto. Wasn't sure about the purpose of the movie but it was interesting nevertheless.
I'll tell you the difference between the French and the Polish when it comes to kissing a lady's hand. It is that the French bring the hand up to their mouths to kiss them, while the Polish bend their heads down low so as not to inconvenience the lady. Now if that ain't fucking sexy, I don't know what is. Growl.
It's very sadly my last day at Elgas today. I'm having wild fantasies that everyone will come out at the end of the day with a big bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates, and passionately declare their undying love for me and my reception expertise. Called the agency and arranged to do 'breakdast temping at home' on Monday morning. So I wake up at eight and be ready to go somewhere when they call. If they call. If they don't - FUCK. I've got funds for a week, and they're supposed to be for Le Grand Trip. I think Le Grand Trip is going to be a shagging tour of Europe. I've organised a shag with George the Former German Housemate from the Darlington Days. Now there's a guy that knows how to turn a woman on. Even in his emails he gets me going.
Lebanese tomorrow. Hmmmm... good food. I will never fucking manage to save up. Coz I always eat out, just like the in the Taiwan days. I brought back the worst spending habits man, aswell as numerous unsightly scars, and a morbid fear of Xiaojies Travelling In Groups.
Oooh I'm cracking myself up. Better get back to work.
Lizwa's Joke of the Day, Stolen from Unnamed Website
Passengers on a small plane are waiting for the flight to leave.
They're getting a little impatient, but the airport staff assures them the pilots will be there soon, and the flight can take off.
The entrance opens, two men dressed in Pilots' uniforms walk up the aisle.
Both are wearing dark glasses, one is using a guide dog, and the other is tapping his way along the aisle with a cane.
Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin, but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start up.
The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming.
The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and the people sitting in the window seats realize they're headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport territory.
As it begins to look as though the plane will plow into the water, panicked screams fill the cabin. At that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air.
The passengers relax and laugh a little sheepishly, and soon all retreat into their magazines, secure in the knowledge that the plane is in good hands.
In the cockpit, one blind pilot turns to the other and says, "You know, Bob, one of these days, they're gonna scream too late and we're all gonna die."

Well, it's safe to say my resume has been passed on into the depths of oblivion. The friend of a friend's boss's friend has passed it onto someone else, and now I 'wait' and see if they contact me. Great.
In other news, I've been getting drunk alot lately. Inertia from the silly season. By nature, it should cease soon. But I've started enjoying life - I don't care about going to bed early anymore (partly because it's light enough in the morning for me to wake up) and I'm getting o-u-t.
Still haven't got my car doors fixed. I will probably wait till I come back from the trans-siberian trip in about two years time to get it fixed, because I just HAVE to save money. I swear, if I don't manage to save at least $4000 by the end of this year I will seriously contemplate suicide, brought on by a regret that will sear through my very soul, made worse by the fact that I haven't been overseas in two years already. I think my longest stint in Oz since before Bali at age 14 was the year and a half between Fiji and Taiwan. Damn! Need... airport... to... survive... I fear I will become one of those losers than never saves up to go anywhere, then at age 50 they're still trying to save up.... Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I
WILL
SAVE
UP.
I saw Babel. Earlier on I saw Volver, which I fell asleep in, partly because I had had 3 hours sleep that morning (after getting really really drunk [and winning poker]) and needed rest before personal training, and partly because it was FUCKING BORING. And can someone please tell me the proper pronunciation?
According to the desk calender, today's quote is an Italian provern which goes: Why live as an invalid to die as a healthy man?
The Italians think therefore that you should drink and smoke. I agree.

Well I woke up this morning, checked my phone, there was a message, and I just knew it was the Kubster. (Coz only he messages so early). It was like 'hello Miss Prada...' and now I'm quite pleased. I've started calling him Kubchenko, coz it sounds like some eastern European president.
ANYWAY enough of that. The hunger strike is over!
Day Three of the Challenge. Left my phone at home today, under Shani's custody.
I could always email. But no.
I'm really sleepy today. Had a few glasses of wine last night before bed while playing poker, and trying to figure out how to play Shithead again. Jochan the German guy has played it before but like me can hardly remember how to play it. So today it is my mission to see if there are instructions on the net.
Tonight I'm supposed to be going to Fi's farewell drinks but I'm too tired. I'm going to go home, lay on the couch, and dream dreams.
I was craving vitamins today. For lunch I had a fruit salad and a bottle of vege juice. But I reckon I'll go back to the chicken shop after work for something more substantial. Mmmm chicken.
What if I just asked K if he had plans tonight? No, don't do it!!!!

Return of the Boredom Blogger
OK well I tried reading but it's not happening. So once again I resort to The Blog, gatekeeper of my miserable soul.
Maybe not miserable, but it sounded alright.
Last night the flatties and I played poker. And who won, for the second time this week? You guessed it - me!!! Calvin bet all his greens in the last round, but little did he know, I had two kings in my hand, to make a triple all up. Sigh. I am just tooooo good. Not that it has as much to do with skill as with luck. But that's beside the point.
In other news... well what do you know, there is no other news since yesterday.
Have managed not to call 'Ku' all day. Going strong man. I think that was my real news year's resolution.
By the way, my new year's resolutions were:
1) To not quit smoking all year
2) Get fit.
The smoking one is going well. I don't usually smoke during the day while I'm at work, but I couldn't help but scab off my supervisor. Twice. And I'm hungry for more, baby.
I'm slightly broke at the moment. Nice way to kick off 2007.
Tried to clean my room. Meh.
What else. Oh my non-diet is going well. I was hardly even hungry today, so all I bought were two spicy wings from the chicken shop. I finished them off in about three minutes. And I was satisfied.
Speaking about food... I am far from skinny - I'm nearly a 14 - I think my flatties think I'm anorexic or something, because they're always telling me to finish my food. Weird man! Like yesterday morning I was eating really cheap 'n' nasty calamari rings at Pancakes on the Rocks, and I left two, and Calvin's like, "please finish your meal" and I'm like wow, I have a new father now! They think I never eat much. Does it LOOK like I don't eat much? Shit!!! Well if they want to pay for me to go to Weight Watchers a year after I start finishing every oversized meal you get served nowadays and I'm a bloody size 18, that's fine with me!! hehehehehehehehe
I wish 'Ku' would ring me. I now refer to Kuba as 'Ku' because at 5.30 in the morning the other day, I sent him an sms and all it said was 'Ku'. Oh-my-god someone call the Obsession Police! Or A.A. would do, I think.
Well the Kubster got a better offer to get drunk and pop pills with his restaurant mates. I was a bit pissed off but then again what do I care, I'm not his girlfriend or anything. Ah well. I decided (again) to try to play it cool with him so to avoid temptation asked Shani to keep my phone so I wouldn't call or message him!!!
It's not my fault if I melt when he calls me "Miss Prada" in his sexy Polish accent. Or "Liz-Oh" or "Liz-ah".
Shit.
