I think the first human on Mars should be a woman, to even the score a little bit with regards to the moon.

Kuba refuses to let things turn ugly - we are going to have a talk soon. He's more decent that alot of guys I've known. But then again most of the guys I have known have been rejects, dropouts, losers, weirdos, you name it.

Currently installing my printer. I have grand plans for a photo of me, Shanja and Vani.

Conversations Real and Imagined

Colleague: Liz, can I ask you an odd question?

Liz: (Oh shit he's going to ask me to do some weird tedious photocopying job) Yeah, sure.

Colleague: Do you think belly button peircing is only for girls?

Liz: (Thank god. I can finish my tea.) That's a good question, one that I've never contemplated before. Most people I know with their belly buttons pierced are chicks, therefore... You could always get your nipples pierced, or any other 'areas' you have.

Colleague: (Presses shirt against chest revealed two little knobs north and south of each nipple). Well I've got it done...

Liz: (Hugs chest and cringes) Ooooh!

To read the rest of the conversation that Liz imagined on the bus home, turn to page 34.

Page 34.

Liz: (Hugs chest and cringes)

Colleague: I've also had my dick done too.

Liz: Wow, I wonder what that feels like for the woman.

Colleague: Well, are you interested in finding out?

Cracking myself up as always,

Lizwa

Marketing This 101 ---->

Ok here's the proposed timetable for next semester:
Monday: Marketing Management
Tuesday: Destination Marketing and Management
Wednesday: Managing for Value Creation II, the younger and more ugly brother of MVC I, this subject looks at accounting and finance. Yummy.

Marketing, I believe, will be a breeze. Common sense factor 10.

Man it's too cold to go outside and smoke.

I'm praying the girls don't want to live too far away from UNSW. Dude three nights a week finishing the day at 9pm... I need my sleepy poos. And I REFUSE to ever again commute on a train. No trains for me.

Oh and all the summer school classes are during the day, some go from 9-5 for a total of 7 or 8 days but it's not just in a two-week block. The days are scattered randomly and this does not look good for work etc. Damn those international students who don't work full-time. I may have to take five weeks off and live like a pauper, all to save from staying in this country for another six months.

In other news, I deleted Kuba's number from my phone, so that 1) I can stop stalking him and 2) he can feel my wrath. Yes, that's right. My wrath. On Sunday (disclaimer: have not yet consulted with Rosie) when Rose, Marcin and I go see Jackson Jackson, I will stay over, but sleep in the loungeroom. Ah yes, an ingenius plan. Then he will come out and beg me to come in and kiss him tenderly before well you know um...

Happy Birthday To Me

This morning my colleague John got some mini muffins from across the road to have for my birthday. I dubbed it 'Muffin O'clock' in the spirit of 'Beer O'clock' which we had on Friday for my boss' last day.

Dad called. Relax - I've already called the Vatican.
Got a few messages on facebook. I have successfully recruited Vanwa and Shanwa onto it and now it is definitely 'the new black' as I have dubbed it, in my recent Dubbing extravaganza.

Dad said it's hard to get into the public service, but once you do, the only way is up. My next job application project is for Admin Assistant (very glam) at the Dept. of Regional and Economic Development. They promote Sydney for business conferences i.e. business tourism and if they don't look at my resume and go 'fuck, call the vatican', then I'll be damned.

Mwah hah ha ha haaa

Now, to the cheesecake that Tim made me for my birthday.

Love,

Lizwa

Hi having birthday drinkies tonight.
Onions: caramelised
Salmon roe: located and purchased
Champers: chilling in fridge
Room: tidied.

It's only 2.30 so I can't start drinking yet so I'm a bit bored.

Had beers at work yesterday for my boss' last day. (Feel free to correct grammar). I got a bit tipsy. Kind of felt like I had spent long enough there as well.

Ok I'm going to vacuum my room now. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Added Andrew The Princeton Guy on Facebook. Discovered he's IN AUSTRALIA. I think it's time I took the hint, no?

Interview on Thursday for 'Reservation Sales Agent' at the Four Seasons. They called me nearly straight away. That is a real turn off, when you think how desperate they must be. Fuck. Ah well.

Had drinks with Karina after work - her shag told her he loves her and wants to marry her and have kids etc. I am so damn happy for her.

Kuba rang at 11.30 last night. I was in bed, and heard the Beep Beep of Joy coming from the dining room. Up I jumped. He has lost his pillow. He has no idea where it is, and thinks I've taken it home with me so I can lay awake all night smelling it. No joke. So I had a look around for his pillow last night at his house and couldn't find it - it's a complete mystery. How a person loses their pillow is beyond me.

I sent my resume to the Visitor Centres in Darling Harbour and The Rocks. It's all about tourism, man. Yes, I wrote a cover letter, but it was only brief, telling whoever that I'm studying tourism and learnt Chinese at uni.

I stuffed myself silly over the weekend and I think I stretched my stomach so I'm still eating heaps. Shit. Ah well. Like for dinner I had two pieces of toast and a bowl of pasta. Dude. Pigging out.

Kuba Kuba Kuba. I wrote him a poem last night and emailed to him. The last lines went like this:

When I'm at Kuba's I'm in heaven

But now he is working 24-7

Oh when, oh when is he not working this week?

Oh when can I give him a kiss on the cheek?

I think it moved him to message me and initiate a booty call. Ha.

This weekend was as extravagant as it deserved to be. It involved stuffing my face and drinking like a fish and doing cool stuff.

In July there's a Network of Women Students conference that goes for a week. I would have to take a week off, and that would be extrememly detrimental to the IGSMF, but hey you only live once. Kuba truly believes that 1. Adam and Eve existed 2. Eve came from Adam's rib, and 3. Women are therefore inferior to men, and belong at home. I asked him if he was kidding, and he said yes, but then he kept saying it, and I realised he was quite serious.

I saw some nuns today. They were both wearing brown. I must be a closet christian, because I couldn't help sending a smile their way. The first time I walked past them they gave me these concerned looks as if silently commenting on my short black dress and black boots and the fact that it was Sunday morning. Or maybe it was just in my head - I imagined what a chaste anti-feminist christian puritan (?) would make of my appearance and general demeanour. But I say, if being a christian makes you a genuinely nice person and morally upright (I mean being kind to people not morals about women and sexuality) then I'm all for people being christians.

Oh the weekend. Yesterday Kate took a photo of me reading the Saturday paper, and it turned into a little 'art' project where she took about 20 photos of me in different places reading the paper, including in a tree, and behind a large tree root, on the 'crapper', sitting on a bench next to a bum, and standing next to the psycho preacher outside Woolies. The bouncer at our hotel said not to go near him coz he was psycho, which spurred us on even more of course. So I walked straight up to him and read the paper keeping a totally straight face and the Psycho Preacher continued as if I wasn't there. He lives in a delusional fairy world, so what difference would it make for a person to come up to him and start reading the paper. If Kate emails me the photos I'll post them on the blog. Yay.

It happened. Today, after three months (a record length of time for one assignment) I took 'ownership' of my role. The ability to do so lay dormant inside me for a long time. So many things were waiting to be done. Clearing out of random documents that had been sitting in random draws since 2004, leading me to the conclusion that the office has only ever seen temps doing reception since then, or there was a permanent receptionist, but she also sat on her arse reading The God of Small Things followed or preceeded by the front and back pages of the Herald. So much random shit lying around doing nothing, having long been useless or irrelevant to the immediacy of the reception desk. I chucked out piles and piles of this shit, leaving me with 3 redundant trays with which to do exactly what I pleased. My 3/4 colleague made a few light hearted comments about Public Servants; we pondered the uncanny similarity of the office to an archeological dig. He said he was at that office years ago, and the same files were sitting on the same shelf in the same cupboard untouched in the same state as they were even back then. I refilled the business cards, I refilled the brochure holders, and for an A4 sized one, printing out a lovely insert that said Please Take One in elegant typeface. A triumph.

My slightly manic but overall positive energy quickly spread throughout the 3-person office and everyone was talking and smiling and chatting and laughing and feeling confident and efficient.

But there's nothing left to do now. I've done it all, in one afternoon. Time to get back to my book.

I'm experiencing an old kind of discomfort as the tragic story of The God of Small Things unfolds, discomfort last experieced, to my memory, when Stephen King movies were inflicted upon me at the age of 5 by my trash-for-brains trailer trash step mother who had her own unique brand of irresponsibility. Did anyone ask me if I wanted to watch Pulp Fiction at age 10?

You know after several people telling me I should write my story down I'm thinking even though blah blah it's not that bad people have been worse of than me etc, it would help me get over the anger that I feel everyday at all the irresponsible, selfish adults who have only themselves on their mind. There would be a range of characters. The violent pervert misogynist Coke-guzzling Peter who watches porn movies with names like 'Absolute Domination', and the trailer trash known as Cheryl the obese monster who feeds off the humiliation of little children for breakfast.

In other news I stayed at Kuba's last night and we genuinely had a good time. That's twice in a row now. Things are a bit different between us at the moment. It's difficult to describe. Our little non-relationship seems to be evolving and I like how I feel after I've spent time with him.

The God of Small Things is almost so sad I don't want to keep reading.

My room is probably at its worst at the moment. Everything is on the floor. Except the DJ's shirt, which lives on my bed during the day, and on my chair when I need my bed for sleeping.

Us girls are probably moving out together in June and living the high life. Of course, I'll be working at the Opera House (?) living a very glamorous life going to free shows, while studying something relevant to the job and thereby forging out a good career (sarcastic HA HA), Shan-wa will be living the high life as an electrical engineer, a profession which is up there with accounting, hairdressing and nursing on the list of in demand jobs for immigration, and Van-wa will be living it up as an awesome philosophy major going on law. The dinner parties! The soirees! Or the matinees, as proposed by Shan-wa.

Email from George today. He didn't reply to my messages coz he was away. And there I was assuming the worst, as usual.

This I think is my last week at the Public Trustee. They have to get approval from the AG before they cut it down to two days a week. So I'm just cruising along.

On Saturday I made beef korma. I left it out till Sunday arvo, but it was still good, so I had the rest for dinner. It was good. The beef was tender, and it taste alright. Mmmm.

CAREER PLAN #102

Changing my specialisation to tourism marketing. It covers event management (which i'm interested in), and hospitality (yes, I would happily spend the rest of my life on a tropical island). I've been getting all these 'signs' you see. There was the events officer job at the maritime museum which I could have applied for, now there's an entry level job that I'm going to go for at MSF Events which is all admin but the company manages events for top-tier firms, and a Tourism Coordinator job at where else but the Opera House - entry level. Admin experience, all decently regarded. So it's worth applying. And I could put 'Tourism Marketing' on my resume, and it would look really, really good. And anyway Organisation and Management leads to nothing except consulting, which I do not want to do, darling. We can thank Evil Elton for that.

This is what the blurb says: "This specialisation focuses on the tourism and hopsitality industry, specifically the planning, promotion and delivery of attractions, EVENTS, meetings, transport and lodging."

Stay tuned for Career Plan #103.

I had a good weekend. Have been kept busy with random events sourced from the herald. The 'Rock the Block' music festival was a flop and a half, the fact that it was held at the Block may or may not have had anything to do with it. OK so I admit I found myself clutching my handbag every time I noticed someone lingering too closely behind me. The reason I went was because in the paper it said there'd be bush tucker to try, and I thought Ian might like to go check it out, but there was alas no bush tucker, not a single widgety grub to be had.

Today I took Rong Rong on the ferry to Manly. It was alright. Man I'm becoming some kind of a tour guide or something. Anyway I bought some 'fair trade' coffee.

Then I had a glass of wine at the food and wine festival at Kings Cross with Fi. Fi's going well, she said I was in the same boat as plenty of other of her friends who feel they are not achieving anything. Anyway she met the organiser of a literary festival in Sri Lanka who then invited her to apply for the role of Festival Manager for that festival, ongoing. But the lady has been unclear as to what the result is and poor Fi is getting a bit anxious.

And then tonight I am having some more alcohol oops I mean wine at Ian's.

So yes, this weekend I had a life. Breathe out.

Shani just brought me a copy of Tharunka. Women's edition. Yay! More fuel for the fire.

Dreams

Dream 1:

I was a newly formed heroin junkie, living with friends in a tent in the bush, on the run from zombies. We found a dead body at the bottom of the cliff, and it came alive, and came after us, and the whole time we were looking for some heroin aswell. Call Freud, we've got a live one here.

Dream 2:

Dream 2 is a bit embarrassing, but well there's not much I hide from the 3 people who read this on a regular basis. I was getting married to George, who just happened to be 8th in line to the German throne (8th in line?) (German throne?) and was waiting for me on his four poster bed in his palace. He was also topless, and I noted he had quite a buff body. Then I woke up and found the Kubster next to me. We made a deal last night - if I scratched his back, which he loves, and I have recently been refusing to do, he would promise not to wake me up at 5 in the morning when he got up to go to school. (Waking me up means turning up the radio and jumping on the bed.) So you can understand why I agreed to scratch his back. Anyway he slept in again, and blamed it on his weakness, which was apparently me.
In other news, I love the back page of the herald. I wish I was the editor of Column 8.
And, I just watched the latest episode of Lost, and that was quite good. Heroes was great too. Mmm tv shows. Must watch last night's Chaser.

Well the talk with my boss never happened, thank god. We were very cool today. Had a few laughs, like old times.

There's a new cutie in the office now, probably about my age, just been promoted to 3/4, and I can see why. Likeable and professional. Awesome.

I have a dilemma. My job application is due tomorrow, but I'm going to Kuba's to eat pizza and watch porn oops I mean watch a DVD and then shag. So, what is more important? Going to Kuba's, or attempting to compete with a bunch of uptight bitches with real Events experience for a job I'll never get? Hmmm that's definitely a hard one.

George messaged me on msn last night but I was in bed fast asleep. Damnit. He's got webcam, too. Awwwwsum.
