Intrigue at 122 Pitt St
This invoice from a supplier arrived by fax on Friday and it didn't say who it was for so I sent an email out to everyone so that someone would come and claim it. No one did, so on Tuesday I sent out another email on request from my supervisor including the details of the invoice so that someone might recognise it. Then the boss, who generally acts like all his subordinates are bad people who need to be told off, told me to tell him as soon as I found out who "fessed up" to the invoice. So he was assuming somone was doing a shifty on him somehow. Anyway someone took the invoice from my desk while I was at lunch and when the boss asked about it I told him it just disappeared. And then get this - he asked me to do his dirty investigative work by calling the sender of the invoice and asking which person they were dealing with. Then I had to ring him back and tell him who it was. I mean, if he cares so much about finding out who this apparently evil, bad, naughty person is he could just do it himself. On that note he also got me to photocopy a pile of about ten sheets of paper, which required it to be put throught the feeder on top of the machine and it took about one minute, and he was already at the photopcopier doing work anyway. But I had to rush downstairs and do it for him anyway. It's like when the guy at the taxi industry place left a letter on my desk for me to put in an envelope and stamp. You see, according to my judgement, the amount of time it takes to walk to my desk, leave the letter on my desk, wait for me to return, and then explain what you want done with it, would take longer than grabbing a fucking envelope and doing it yourself. It just doesn't make sense. When it's actually not worth delegating, but you delegate it anyway, you are no doubt on a power trip of sorts, and are giving someone something to do just because you can.
And there you have my economic treatise on stuffing envelopes.
