Dear god,

It's 3 hours past my bedtime but I don't care, because I've just actually had a good time. Drinking as part of my job has proved pleasurable and talking with my beloved Korean agent has proved wonderful.
It all started when.. hmm where do I start. When my Korean agent walked into my school and mistook me for an office girl and completely ignored me. Then I kind of reminded him that I was the one coming to Korea and then it all changed. i.e. new handshakes etc. I then discovered that he was hot and sexy, but it wasn't until our appointment at the agent workshop at 9.40am that I discovered that I had a complete crush on him. I spent all day (from 9 to 6) talking to uninterested agents (in twenty minute intervals back to back) about our school, and at the end all I wanted to do was go home. But alas, there was still the "dinner and dance" at the Dockside in Darling Harbour, two hours later at 8pm, that my boss had previously "suggested" that I go to. I.e. go to it because it was my job. Ah, shite. I didn't know anyone at the convention and hadbasically spent the whole day humiliating myself going up to complete stangers and introducing myself then rehearsing my spiel about my school. So obviously I was completely averse to going to this dinner. But of course I went, and spoke to Cute Korean Agent a million times, and it turns out he knows more about my company than I do. Why he's spending hours raving on about it to me, I don't know, but all I do know is that I'm meeting him in Seoul and I still think he's wonderful. Dude, I had made a vow never to start dancing, but alas, me and CKA actually went up to the dance floor for the first time together. It made a good story; whenever I spoke to another person while outside having a choof, I amazed them with my story of exactly how I had vowed not to dance, but ending up dancing anyway (to 80s classics, mind you.) I even danced with this French agent who rejected one of my appointment requests because I was the competition. So, the moral of the story is, no matter how utterly wanky and stuck up industry networking events are in the beginning, everybody forgets about business once the first person hits the dance floor. I like it; I like it alot. In fact, that's when I finally started actually relating to people and having genuine conversations, rather than comparing company accolades.
THUMBS UP TO INDUSTRY EVENTS!
I could get used to free booze; in fact I already have.
Oh shit, gotta go to bed. Waking up in 5 hours.

Amen.
